The Energy Price Guarantee reduces the unit cost of gas and electricity that eligible households pay for their energy. It discounts the unit rates for customers who are on variable rates and certain fixed rates.

The scheme will be in place from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2024.

If you are eligible, the EPG discount will be applied to your bill, and you don’t need to take any action.

The level of the EPG discount available to eligible customers will be adjusted on a quarterly basis. We will tell you each time your EPG discount changes.

With the EPG discount, a typical household will save around £700 this winter based on current prices. Typical household consumes per year 2,900 kWh of electricity and 12,000 kWh of gas. This is broadly in line with median demand (i.e. 50% of households consume more, 50% of households consume less).

You don’t need to apply for the EPG discount. Please stay alert to potential scams and report any suspicious activity.
